Axillary Bud Fate Shapes Plant Architecture in Horticultural Crops

چکیده
Above-ground plant architecture is dictated to a large extent by the fates and growth rates of aerial meristems. Shoot apical meristem gives rise fundamental form generating new leaves. However, axillary meristems located in leaf axils have great influence on affect harvest index, yield potential cultural practices. Improving breeding facilitates denser plantations, better resource use efficiency even mechanical harvesting. Knowledge genetic mechanisms regulating needed for precision breeding, especially determining feasible targets. Fortunately, research many crop species has demonstrated that relatively small number genes effect fates. In this review, we select important horticultural agricultural as examples how changes cultivation practices species. We focus specifically determination fate review may change drastically because altered fate. also explain what known about environmental control these species, further architectural traits could benefit sector.

Selenium Enrichment of Horticultural Crops.
The ability of some crops to accumulate selenium (Se) is crucial for human nutrition and health. Selenium has been identified as a cofactor of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which is a catalyzer in the reduction of peroxides that can damage cells and tissues, and can act as an antioxidant. Plants are the first link in the food chain, which ends with humans. Increasing the Se quantity in pla...
متن کاملSalinity±mineral nutrient relations in horticultural crops
The relations between salinity and mineral nutrition of horticultural crops are extremely complex and a complete understanding of the intricate interactions involved would require the input from a multidisciplinary team of scientists. This review addresses the nutrient elements individually and we emphasise research directed towards the organ, whole-plant and field level. We have attempted to s...
متن کاملUse of Plant Pathogens as Bioherbicides to Manage Weeds in Horticultural Crops
Certain fungal, bacterial, and viral pathogens can be mass-produced and used as biological herbicides to control weeds in crops. This approach, referred to as the “bioherbicide” or the “inundative” biological control strategy, is based on our ability to manipulate certain weed-pathogen systems to cause highly damaging levels of disease epidemics during critical periods of weed interference and ...
متن کاملPrecision Agriculture Applications In Horticultural Crops In Greece and Worldwide
Precision agriculture is the management of spatial and temporal variability of the fields using ICT. The application in horticultural crops was developed in the last ten years. Data are collected from different sources (yield and quality, soil properties, remote sensing), stored to GIS data bases, analysed using geostatistical methods to develop management zones and decision support systems are...
متن کاملRecent techniques in fertigation of horticultural crops in Israel
Israel is a small country with a total land area of 21,000 km, from which 20% is arable land. More than half of Israel has an arid to semi-arid climate. Approximately half of the cultivated area (200,000 hectares) has to be irrigated due to lack of rainfall and other water resources. Approximately 80% of the irrigated land in Israel uses the fertigation method, combining the application of wate...
